How to Exclude URLs, Blocks, or Specific Words from Translation in MultiLipi

Excluding certain parts of your website from translation is often essential when you want to preserve brand integrity, avoid translating legal disclaimers, or prevent layout-breaking elements from being altered. MultiLipi allows you to do this seamlessly through our Translation Exclusions feature — whether it’s full URLs, HTML blocks, or specific words.

Below is a step-by-step guide to help you configure exclusions with complete control and precision:

step1: Open Your Dashboard

Log into your MultiLipi account and head to your Dashboard where all your project listings and settings are located. 

Step 2: Select Your Project

From the left-hand sidebar, click on “Projects” and locate the specific project you want to modify. Click the Project Tile to enter the project editor.

Step 3: Access Translation Exclusions

Within the project editor, scroll down to the “Settings” section in the sidebar and click on “Translation Exclusions.”

Here, you’ll find two main exclusion types:

• Exclude URLs — Entire pages or paths (like /blog)
• Exclude Blocks — Specific HTML class names
• Exclude Words — Prevent individual terms from being translated
  

Step 4: Add a New Rule

Click the blue “Add Rule” button to create a new exclusion rule.

You will see a pop-up form with options to define:

• Filter Mode: Choose “Exclude” to block translation.
• Rule Type: Choose how the pattern should match (e.g., “Starts With”).
• URL/Block/Word to Exclude: Input the text, URL pattern, or class name.
• Languages: Select specific target languages for which this exclusion should apply.
• Language Switcher Visibility: Choose whether the language appears in the switcher for this page/block or not.
  

Step 5: Save Your Rule

Once your rule is configured, click “Save Rule” to apply it. You’ll see it instantly appear in the list of active exclusions.

This change takes effect immediately — pages or blocks matching the rule will no longer be translated in the specified languages.

Use Cases for Translation Exclusion

• Prevent brand names or legal terms from being mistranslated.

• Maintain custom-designed HTML blocks (e.g., embedded forms or buttons).

• Avoid translating pages like /terms, /privacy, or /contact.
